Princess Sheikha Al Thani SATUC Chairperson participated at the Qatari British economic forum held in London on Wednesday, 29th October 2014. The Forum was opened by H.E. Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani, Qatari Minister of Economy & Commerce. The event brought together government officials and senior executives from Qatar and the UK to discuss investment opportunities and business partnerships. H.E. Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Thani, Qatar’s Minister of Economy and Commerce and H.E Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani both addressed the audience to highlight the role of the Forum in shedding light on Qatar’s economic developments. Sheikha Al Thani and H.E Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani discussed the effort aiming to promote Qatar’s economics and investment opportunities in the UK through networking and enhancing the Qatari-British bilateral relationship.
The Forum represented a platform to represent the future economic vision and to showcase the promising business investment opportunities that Qatar offers to UK investors. The forum featured a wide-ranging program of workshops and networking opportunities all designed to build a stronger global business community.
Sheikha Al Thani cooperated in the workshop related to the 2022 World Cup Public Investment Programme – Programme Delivery Challenges and Opportunities for the Qatari British Cooperation. Mr. Hassan Al Thawadi promoted Qatar’s revolutionary and successful attempt to bring the FIFA World Cup to the Middle East for the first time. H.E Hassan Al Thawadi holds the position of Secretary-General of the Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee, the organization responsible for coordinating amongst government agencies within the state to ensure infrastructure and development projects are delivered in readiness for the event in 2022. Sheikha Al Thani and H.E Al Thawardi discussed new projects that will enhance the Qatar-Egypt bilateral relationship through charity work and football.
The Rt Hon the Baroness Symons of Vernham Dean of the Arab British Chamber of Commerce and Sheikha Al Thani discussed how to raise awareness in the UK and the Arab world on charity work and how this is a key element for the community. Dr Afnan Al Shuaiby the secretary general of ABCC congratulated Sheikha for her charity work in Syria and Egypt and applauded all the work done by SATUC.
This forum was the occasion for the baroness Manzoor and Sheikha Al Thani, to exchange woman’s rights in the Arab world and how to improve their conditions through the charity project.
The forum attracted a wide audience from the region and abroad, representing most economic sectors and industries, especially energy, research and development, innovation, and sovereign investment fund. Government officials included leading Qatari ministers and public officials and a number of Arab and non-Arab ministers and officials.
