SATUC
April 13, 2015
We have been very busy these last 10 days with our London Press Conference and our major Cairo trials for the 2015 SATUC Cup taking place on the 1st of April. But we have been busy working behind the scenes and we are delighted to announce our latest 2015 SATUC Cup Ambassador – former Egypt star and national team coach SHAWKY GHARIB! One of Shawky Gharib’s most famous achievements was managing the Egypt side that won the bronze medal at the 2001 FIFA World Youth Championship in Argentina, in doing so laying the foundations for a hugely successful era for Egyptian football in the following decade, winning consecutive African Cup of Nations in 2006, 2008 & 2010.
As a player, Gharib made several appearances for the Egyptian national team. He participated in four editions of the African Cup of Nations and was part of the title-winning squad in 1986. He also played for Egypt at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
We are very pleased to welcome him to the SATUC team where he joins a whole host of other distinguished Egyptian and international footballers!
