Hassan Shehata | SATUC World Cup Ambassador

SATUC is delighted and very proud to announce some more fantastic news living Egyptian legend Hassan Shehata joins us as SATUC’s Honorary President!
Hassan Shehata’s appointment is another indication of SATUC’s long-term ambitions since his role as Honorary President of SATUC encompasses all of the charity’s current and future projects.
Hassan Shehata’s immense success and popularity as both player and coach will help raise the profile of SATUC and the 2015 SATUC Cup in Egypt and across the globe. He will be instrumental in helping attract the attention that SATUC’s beneficiaries so urgently require from the public and major institutions.
Shehata is rightly adored by the Egyptian public; not only does he hold the record to date for the longest-serving coach in Egyptian national team history (2004-2011), but he is also the most successful, having guided The Pharaohs to three successive African Cup of Nation titles in 2006, 2008 and 2010 – a feat which has never before or since been achieved. Under his leadership, Egypt set a record for the longest undefeated streak in the African Cup of Nations, a mammoth 19 games, stretching from 2004-2010.

Under Hassan Shehata, the Egyptian national team also reached their highest-ever place in the FIFA world rankings – 9th – and in doing so became only the third-ever African team to break into the top 10. In 2008 he won the award for CAF Coach of the Year and as manager of the club side El Mokawleen he picked up the Egypt Cup in 2003-2004 and the Egyptian Super Cup in 2004.

As a player, he was similarly impressive winning accolade after accolade and trophy after trophy:

1 Egyptian league title 1977/78 – Zamalek
3 Egyptian Cups 1974-75, 1976-77, 1978-79 – Zamalek
Twice Egyptian League top scorer (1976-77 & 1979-80)
3rd best African footballer of the year 1974 (France Football)
Best Footballer in Asia 1970
Best Footballer in African Cup 1974
Best Footballer in Egypt 1976
Received Egyptian Merit of Sport 198

SATUC is delighted to have Mr Shehata come on board and we look forward to a long and fruitful partnership together.
