SATUC welcomes Colombia’s Children of the Andes delegation. On Friday the 23rd of January Sheikha Al-Thani met with a delegation from SATUC’s partner charity Children of the Andes (COTA). COTA is a UK-based charity working with vulnerable children in Colombia. The organization will be in charge of bringing together a team of disadvantaged 14-15-year-olds to compete in the SATUC Football Cup hosted in Cairo from the 28th of August to the 3rd of September. The meeting sought to establish a closer bond between the two organizations as preparations are made for the summer tournament.

Present were Sheikha Al-Thani, Founder of SATUC, Andres Muñoz of COTA, and Fernando Montana the world-renowned ballet dancer and ambassador of COTA. SATUC and COTA have many similar aims in their desire to use football as a tool to empower marginalized people. The SATUC Football Cup will be a fundraising opportunity for money to go back into grassroots projects in Colombia overseen by COTA.

The delegation of COTA was also able to officially confirm the invitation from Maria Rodriguez, the First Lady of Colombia, for Sheikha Al-Thani to visit Colombia. This will be an opportunity for Sheikha to visit the projects which COTA and the First Lady are sponsoring as SATUC seeks to forge stronger links with South America.
