Cairo, Egypt – SATUC (Sheikha Al Thani for Uniting Children) “Palestine is Calling,” a two-day event aimed at addressing the challenges posed by the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories. Scheduled to take place on February 6th and 7th, 2024, at the SATUC Charity HQ in Cairo, this event seeks to illuminate the profound impact of the occupation on various aspects of Palestinian life, including art, music, and cultural heritage.
The Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories, comprising the West Bank and Gaza Strip, has resulted in multifaceted challenges for the Palestinian people. From restrictions on movement to limited access to basic resources and the ongoing construction of Israeli settlements, Palestinians face daily hurdles that affect their livelihoods and well-being. The event will delve into these issues, aiming to foster a deeper understanding of the complexities involved.
On February 6th, the event will commence with a seminar led by renowned Professor Walid Kazziha, a respected scholar and author in the field of political science. Professor Kazziha’s extensive contributions to understanding geopolitical issues make him a fitting speaker for this event. The seminar will provide insights into the political dimensions of the Israeli occupation and its implications for the Palestinian community.
The second day of the event, February 7th, will feature a screening of the film “Hanna K.” Directed by Costa-Gavras, the movie offers a nuanced portrayal of the Israeli occupation through the lens of a legal drama. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with the film’s narrative, gaining a deeper empathy for the human stories entangled in the occupation.
In addition to intellectual discussions and film screenings, “Palestine is Calling” will showcase artwork from students of European Universities in Egypt (EUE). This initiative aims to amplify the voices of Palestinian communities affected by the occupation, providing a platform for artistic expression and solidarity.
