The Egyptian children were divided into ten teams. Each team consists of ten players and represented a certain province

The Egyptian teams were divided into two groups as well. The first group included the teams of

The children arrived at Concord Stadium. The technical committee was waiting for them.
The tournament started at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 31st in the presence of the Liberian athlete George Waya and the Guinean athlete Pascal Feindouno and Sheikha Al Thani, president of SATUC Foundation. They arrived early in Concord Stadium to participate in the tournament and support the orphaned children. The first match was run by international referees commissioned by the Egyptian Football Association, headed by Gamal Allam.

12 matches were played on the first day. The first round started at 9:30 a.m. Giza played with South Sinai, Cairo with Matrouh, Ismailia with the Red Sea, and Aswan with the New Valley. The first round of the Syrian teams began with matches between Damascus and Homs, Aleppo, and Latakia.
The second round of the Egyptian teams started at 12:00 p.m. between Giza and Alexandria, Cairo and South Sinai, Ismailia and Dakahlia, and Aswan with the Red Sea. Then, the second round of Syrian refugees started with two matches between Damascus and Deir al-Zour, and Homs as well. This concluded the first day of the tournament.

1st and 2nd of each group qualified for the semi-finals. The eliminations continued to the final. The five Syrian teams played and the winner was the one to collect the largest number of points.

Each child who joined the SATUC Tournament has a different story

The Egypt city of Sharm el-Sheikh witnessed a major football tournament for 5 days from Dec 30th, 2015, to Jan 3rd, 2016. The tournament was organized in solidarity with several Egyptian ministries, and several charities operating in Egypt. SATUC guests and ambassadors from several countries of the world attended to choose the Egyptian and Syrian teams to participate in SATUC World Cup for orphans U15.

More than 150 children participated in the event hoping to be chosen by SATUC ambassadors of international football players. SATUC sponsored the Egyptian and Syrian teams and support them by all means of attention and care under the supervision of football experts aiming to make professional football players of the talented children participating at the SATUC tournament in Sharm El Sheikh and then at the SATUC World Cup. This tournament was such a great opportunity for those orphaned children to come together and meet with many football experts and professionals to encourage them and take them as role models. This event was made to demolish several barriers in order to make the dreams of those children come true. SATUC believes that such an event gave those children a better chance to communicate with the community and to make their dreams come true supported by several countries and charities. The SATUC tournament in 2016 was part of the eliminations for the World Cup, in which 12 countries from five continents will participate.

On the second day of the tournament, 15 matches were played, the 1st of which started at 9 AM on Friday, Jan1st, between Cairo and Giza, followed by a match between South Sinai and Alexandria teams, a 3rd one between Ismailia and Aswan teams, a 4th one between the Red Sea and Daqahlia teams which concluded the 3rd-round matches among the Egyptian teams. The 3rd-round matches among the Syrian teams started with a match between Damascus and Aleppo teams and another one between Homs and Deir AL-Zour teams. The 4th-round matches start with a match between Giza and Marsa Matrouh teams, a match between Cairo and Alexandria teams, a match between Ismailia and the New Valley teams, and a 4th match between Aswan and Daqahlia teams. As for the 4th-round matches of the Syrian teams, it is formed of two matches, one between Damascus and Latakia teams and another one between Aleppo and Deir AL-Zour teams.
The matches ended at 11 AM on Friday, Jan 1st, to begin again at 2 p.m. and last till 5 pm. The last round included matches between South Sinai and Matrouh teams, the Red Sea and the New Valley teams, and Homs and Latakia teams.

On the 3rd day, 6 matches were played; the first of which started at 9 AM. The children ate their breakfast after they woke up at the hotel restaurant.

On the 4th and final day of the tournament, though the children came from different governorates, the children were happily harmonious with one another. After breakfast, they headed to the stadiums to play the final matches, which started with a match between Matrouh and Alexandria teams.

Another match between the New Valley and Daqahlia teams and a 3rd one between Latakia and Deir Al-Zour teams, at the final first-round matches. Then, the semi-final matches began, to last till 11 AM. The players had rest from 11 AM. till 2 p.m. when the final match between the Red Sea and South Sinai teams was played. The latter won the match by two clear goals and thus won the SATUC orphans tournament at Sharm Al-Sheikh. On the other hand, Latakia won SATUC Syrian refugees tournament.
After the final match between the Red Sea and South Sinai, it was time for the match played by the stars and ambassadors and some media stars. Several games were played, where George Weah and Pascal Feindouno played all the time and showed extraordinary athletic skills just as Ahmed Hassan did. Sheikha Al-Thani also participated with them. The match ended when each team scored 4 goals, some of which were scored by Ahmed Hassan, George Weah, and Ashraf Mamdouh.
After that match, there was a ninety-minute rest for all to prepare for the final reception which started at 6 p.m., including art shows beginning with a show by a Mexican show and another one by Basata Show led by Ehab Gaber. The children happily interacted with the stars attending the celebration.
Happiness prevailed during the tournament and the children were smilingly anticipating the future, hoping that stars would arise from their teams.

Gamal Allama, the president of the Egyptian football federation, gave a speech supporting the idea behind this tournament. He said that the league also supports the tournament. He added that he would attend such significant events which will play a role in the future of those orphans.

The highlights of the SATUC Sharm El Sheikh tournament

The event in Sharm el-Sheikh was attended by the African football player George Weah, who played at Milan and was named 1995 FIFA World Player of the Year. Weah came to Egypt to participate in choosing the best players from Egypt and Syria. The event was also attended by football players: Pascal Feindouno, Ahmed Hassan, Ahmed Shoubair, Hani Ramzy, Osama Nabih, Ahemd Nagy, Ashraf Mamdouh, Tariq Yehya, Rabie Yassin, Tawfik Saqr, Mahmoud Fayez, Jamal Alam, Amri Farouk and the anchor’s Ashraf Mahmoud and TV host Tamer Amin, in addition to many football players from Egyptian teams.

A big thanks to our Ambassadors and all who have traveled thousands of miles to join us to achieve our goal of helping children to achieve their goals and dreams in society. The SATUC tournament was a celebration to showcase the international soccer tournament to come and to introduce some of our amazing lineup of star ambassadors to the assembled VIPs and the international press.

The legend George Weah is a big supporter of our SATUC initiatives, and we are thrilled to have him on board as our ambassador.

Abdeul-Monem Medani, an official at the Moroccan Ministry of Solidarity, expressed his gladness since his country would host the Orphan’s world cup. He also thanked Sheikha Al-Thani for the efforts exerted by the foundation for the sake of orphans. He as well ascertained that he, together with all officials at the Moroccan Ministry of Solidarity, will do their best to support the tournament to realize its goals.
