2015 SATUC Cup Ambassador – Shawky Gharib

Shawky Gharib is a former Egypt star and manager of national team. Arguably one of his greatest achievements was managing the Egypt side that won the bronze medal at the 2001 FIFA World Youth Championship in Argentina. In doing so helped lay the foundations for a hugely successful era for Egyptian football in the following decade, with The Pharaohs winning consecutive African Cup of Nations in 2006, 2008 & 2010.

As an international, Gharib was similarly successful, participating in four editions of the African Cup of Nations and winning the tournament itself in 1986. He also played for Egypt at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
