2015 SATUC Cup Ambassador – HAZEM EMAM

Egypt and Zamalek star HAZEM EMAM

We are thrilled that one of the most talented and popular footballers to come out of the Middle East has decided to join us as a 2015 SATUC World Cup ambassador.

The son and grandson of two Zamalek legends in their own right, Hazem decided to write his own chapter in his family’s & Zamalek’s history and did so in spectacular fashion as a skilful and creative playmaker.

Despite playing in Europe in the Dutch & Italian premier divisions with considerable success for a while (notably becoming the first Egyptian player to play in Italy), Hazem’s loyalty was always with Zamalek where he began and ended his distinguished career on either side of his European experiences.

A fan favourite, Hazem enjoyed huge success with Zamalek, winning:

  • 4 Egyptian League titles: 1993-94, 2000–01, 2002–03, 2003–04

  • 2 Egyptian Cups: 2001/2002 & 2007/2008

  • 2 Egyptian Super Cup: 2001, 2002

  • 2 CAF Champions League titles: 1996 & 2002

  • 1 CAF Super Cup: 2003

  • 1 UAFA Club Cup: 2003

  • 1 Saudi-Egyptian Super Cup: 2003

A significant portion of those victories came under the leadership of Hazem, who as an influential, popular and decisive player was entrusted the captain’s armband for many years.

Hazem made his debut for the national team in 1996 and won 86 caps for Egypt. He has participated in the ACN 5 times: in 1996, 1998, 2000, 2002, and 2004. His biggest achievement was winning it in 1998, but his best performances came in 1996 & 2002 when he was picked for the team of the tournament.

His purple patch for Zamalek between 2000 – 2004 saw him win the Egyptian Footballer of the Year award in 2003 in recognition of his outstanding form and impact.
